Repeat drunk drivers make up a significant percentage of the drunk driving problem on Texas roads. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, nearly one-third of those convicted of drunk driving were previously convicted of the same offense. Requiring the use of ignition interlocks for all DWI conviction stops the problem before a key can start a car's engine. If a device registers any alcohol on a driver's breath, then they won't be able to drive their vehicle. This effectively removes the threat that repeat drunk drivers present on our roads and highways.

I think this is a great bill! Drunk drivers need not put their lives or OTHERS in danger by driving while intoxicated. I have heard of courts doing this to repeat offenders, I am glad that a legislator is taking some action.
