Texans should not be forced to choose between their jobs and their personal safety, regardless of the time of day or distance they drive. HB 681 extends only to the employee's personal, locked vehicle. OSHA, risk management, and Homeland Security issues are not involved.

* Does not prohibit the employer from regulating and enforcing policies to ban possession or carrying of firearms inside the business or workplace.

* Does not apply to school districts or company-owned or leased vehicles.

* Does provide immunity from liability for employers for damages resulting from the storage of firearms in locked, private motor vehicles.
